This morning at 5:50 a.m., I crawled out of my truck dreading the workout Mr. Odom and I were about to begin. The thought of steps, sweat, and effort wasn’t exactly exciting.
But then, in the faint morning light, I noticed the Eden High School Cross Country girls running laps on the track—just one day after competing in a two-mile race in Coleman.
I was amazed—and inspired—by the work ethic these young ladies showed so early in the day. Their dedication reminded me to stop complaining, lace up my shoes, and get to work. Along with the coaches and young men who are also up early training hard, they serve as an inspiration to all of Eden. These athletes aren’t just preparing for races; they’re representing their school and their community with grit and determination.
The photo I snapped doesn’t do justice to the moment, but the message is clear: it’s a great day to be a Bulldog. As Mr. Odom always says, “It takes more to be a Bulldog.”

Our FCCLA chapter started off their year today by attending the Fall Leadership Workshop today in Winters. These student were able to learn more about FCCLA, network with other members, and help brainstorm ideas for projects to help in our schools and communities. We had a great day and we are so proud of how these students represented ECISD and Eden FCCLA! Looking forward to another great year!

Attention!! Please watch out for our Cross Country runners in the early mornings and after school as they are out running around our school and the nearby neighborhoods. Most but not all runners are wearing reflective vests, so they are easy to recognize. At times there are over 50 athletes running so please slow down and be patient!
