Today our seniors took on “Ready, Set, Adult!: a day full of real life experiences and hands-on learning to help prepare them for life after high school. 🎓
Throughout the day, students participated in:
• CPR & Stop the Bleed Training
• Police Officer Interaction Training
• Easy Meal Prep Basics
• Ironing Skills
• Relaxing Mental Health Stations
• An “Adulting Quest” around town
During the Adulting Quest, students visited our local post office, bank, city office where they met with the mayor, insurance agency, grocery store, and even practiced making a doctor’s appointment over the phone. These may seem like small tasks, but they are important life skills that help build confidence, independence, communication skills, responsibility, and preparedness for adulthood. We wanted our students to leave with knowledge they can truly use in everyday life.
We are so thankful for all of the community members, businesses, and volunteers who helped make this day possible. A huge thank you to:
• Nurse Kim Miller & Sheriff Brent Frazier for CPR & Stop the Bleed Training
• Trooper Poerner and Officer Pearson for speaking with our students about police interactions.
• Kit Hall & Kay Pfluger for helping with meal prep activities
• Our local Post Office staff
• Texas Financial Bank of Eden
• Mayor Rodgers and the Eden City Office
• Farm Bureau Insurance Agency
• Lowe’s Grocery Store
• Mrs. Cierra Briggs for her awesome “Bulldog Medical Clinic” interview skills
We ended the day with fun door prizes filled with items our students can use as they begin their next chapter, and a special thank you to P.S. Lemonade for the refreshing drinks after a busy afternoon on our Adulting Quest! 🍋💙
It truly takes a community to prepare and support our students, and we are so grateful to everyone who invested their time, knowledge, and encouragement into our seniors today. We are proud of this group and excited to watch them take on the future! #ReadySetAdult #AdultingDay
